The return of the square serif and the slab serif has been looking amazing on a lot of current designs out there right now. I am a huge fan of Helvetica and Univers but you can still keep it nice and clean with a beautifully designed square or slab serif as well.
I am also loving the resurgence in classic fonts right now. I have been loving Avant Garde again of late but one of my pet peeves is when designers don't kern it properly.
With all of the throw away fonts out there, it is great to see more of those meticulously designed fonts getting their due once again!
Herb Lubalin will always be the man in my book...even if he is a Herb ;-)
